A New Journey Begins: My First Day at St. Mary's HSS Pattom
Today marked the inauguration of my internship's second phase at St. Mary's HSS Pattom. The anticipation began on June 7, 2023, when we collected our timetables. I was assigned classes 8 A, of 35 vibrant young boys.
By 8:45 am, all 29 of us student teachers were punctually present, a palpable air of excitement amongst us. Our team had strong leadership with Riya at the helm, assisted by the ever-capable Anju Mariam Aji. Walking into St. Mary’s corridors today wasn't just about stepping into a school; it was about carrying the weight of hopes and dreams of being a good teacher.
The day’s itinerary began with a soulful morning prayer at 9:25 am. Shortly after, our MTTC team was formally introduced to the school's principal and headmaster in a meeting at 9:30 am. Their words of welcome were warm, and their advice on our roles was invaluable. I had no class on the first day and it was a bit disappointment for me.
Lunchtime at 12:30 pm offered a much-needed break, followed by an evening duty near the main gate from 3:15 pm. The day concluded with the simple ritual of marking our attendance, and by 4:15 pm, we bid our goodbyes to the school.
This beginning has set the tone for what I believe will be an enriching experience.
